Dear Simon’s Town Businesses and resident volunteers

Thank you very much for all your support and participation in welcoming back the Steam Train to Simon’s Town on Sunday. It was fantastic to see our community working together to get everything ready for this big day.

It is difficult to single out individuals, because this was truly a team effort, but special thanks need to be given to a few key people who were instrumental in making this event a great success:

From our Tourism & Event Organising committee, with Louise Patterson ( Craftart and Gallery Emporium Gallery) and Elizabeth Neethling (enWindow Decor) coordinating the event, to Gary Carlton (Harcourts) and his social groups from Simonskloof, Seaforth & Boulders, STCA volunteers, especially Kathy Bolitho who got plants donated by Harry Goemans, and the pink bibs assisting with cleaning up the town and station ahead of the train’s arrival with their leader, George, for organising the cooperation of the Taxi’s. Thanks to Jeremy (Ice Cream Parlor) for sponsoring and organising the musicians from Ocean’s Riff, Warren Pace (Total Concept Design) and the Civic Association’s communications team (Steph & Bev) for organising photographers and communication with the press, Genevieve and the HGTS Team and Andre Leibrandt (Ghost Walks) for assisting with balloons and hanging bunting, as well as providing transport from the station to Jubilee Square. Nicola Leitch (Penguin Palace) for organising the Crankhandle Club vintage cars, and Louise (Craftart & Gallery) who liaised with the Isivinguvungu band, even though they were not able to come this Sunday due to prior commitments and STADCO for agreeing to let them park for free for this occasion. Liesel Coetzer (Mariner Guesthouse) for hosting a thank you breakfast for all the ladies of the Simon’s Town Art Group (STAG) for making the bunting organised by Liza and Johann (enWindow Decor) as well as the Art on the Square.

We look forward to the next one!
